Historical Research and its Dissemination

The Foundation maintains a small resident staff of scholars, as well as a network of research associates (known as "Kambona Associates") in various locations, who are engaged in research projects commissioned by the board of trustees. The Foundation disseminates the research outputs widely by various means ranging from exclusive VIP meetings to international conferences to contributions in scholarly journals to the Foundation's own publications. Oscar Kambona's own memoirs keynote the Foundation's book series. The research topics, selected with due process by a professional panel of Tanzanian historians, are chosen to uncover aspects of the modern history of Tanzania that are insufficiently understood by the citizens and that have a strategic bearing on the building of democracy, the capacity to resolve conflict, and the promotion of human rights.
