Courses in Societal and Corporate Leadership The Foundation pioneers in the adaptation, to the societal and corporate culture of Tanzania, of courses on executive leadership being offered at the world's pace-setting business schools and leadership training centers. Intensive (3 to 7 day) residential courses are conducted on the Foundation's premises by a combination of resident staff and visitors of world-class reputation. The Foundation aims to offer a leadership training experience to senior leader-managers that is comparable in quality to the best obtainable anywhere, yet more relevant to local conditions as well as less expensive than comparable foreign offerings. Participants are nominated by their home organizations and screened by the Foundation's management. Underlying and percolating through all of this instruction are the ideals that comprise the Foundation's mission (democracy, constructive resolution of conflict, and enhancement of human rights) and the essential role of leadership in pursuing these ideals.

Courses in Leadership for Young Professionals The Foundation also pursues its leadership development ideals by offering longer courses (2-4 weeks in duration) in leadership training geared to the interests and abilities of younger people (25-40 years) who have achieved a track record for leading developmental change in their places of work and who have obtained the sponsorship of their organizations or communities to participate. The Foundation maintains a scholarship fund to assist those who cannot otherwise pay the fees and who qualify on the basis of merit standards. The spirit of this training emphasizes competition as well as cooperation, recognizing the central role of personal leadership qualities (character, charisma, know-how, and vision) in creating the meritocracy of elites that effective societal leadership demands. The intensive educational experience combines strenuous outdoor challenges in the Kilimanjaro region with intellectual and artistic endeavors on the Foundation premises. By policy of the board, women comprise of minimum of one-third of each session.
